Happy Holidays, Kindergarten Families! It has been a fun and festive week at Ramsay School. See if you can spot the activities we did on Hat Day, Sweater Day, or PJ Day!  This week we reviewed all of the letter sounds we have learned so far. We also spent some time learning more about lowercase letters and how to recognize them!   In Math, we showed off our patterning skills with a mitten colouring exercise. Students were asked to colour at least two patterns, but some just kept going and going!  In Gym the Gaga Ball pit was set up for one more week.  It was a welcome way to get us moving when it was too cold for any outdoor play.  We made snowmen by dipping Q-tips in paint! Such a fun way to work on our fine motor skills and get a little messy. Finally, the students made Centres their own this week.  Holiday cards and colouring continued to be a hit, but some students also cut out ornaments complete with string for the tree.  Our kitchen centre w...

Hello Kindergarten Families, We are one short week away from winter break!  Our Kindergarten students are buzzing with excitement.   This week we learned about the letter Nn!  We made it with our bodies (AM photos) and also found it in our snowflake poem (PM photos). We noticed that there were so many things we could draw that started with N, like nest, nail, or net! We also had a very exciting week of Gym! The Gaga Ball pit was set up for us to use! Gaga Ball is a version of dodgeball where you roll the ball towards the other players and try to hit them below the knee.  If the ball touches you below the knee, you are out until the next round. It's fast-paced and so fun! Pictures are of our AM class. In Math we continue to practice patterns. Our work is becoming more complex! We spent some time this week talking about the core of a pattern and how it is the smallest part of the pattern that repeats. We will continue our pattern work into the new year!  Phot...

Hello Kindergarten families, It has been such a busy week that I have very few photos to share!  Our letter of the week was Cc. The letter C is a tricky one! It makes different sounds in different words, like cookie, circus, and chair.  We used our hands to make the letter C with our bodies. We could also make it by curving our whole body!  When it came time to draw things that begin with C, we had a wide array of options from candy cane to climbing wall! Our kitchen centre has been transformed into a winter wonderland this week.  Students have been using their imaginations to mix up hot chocolate and bake yummy cookies!  It is so fun to watch the students completely immersed in play. Our students have been enjoying presenting their Winter Celebrations sheets to the class! I love hearing about the traditions and favourite family memories.  We will continue sharing next week as forms come back.  We are getting outside for fresh air to end the day today....

Hello Ramsay Kindergarten Families, It was a cold week in K!  Thankfully our excitement about December helped keep us warm.  We were also very excited to welcome Ms. Yasin to PM Kindergarten. Ms. Yasin will be with us until Ms. Leusink returns.  We have created a brief questionnaire about Winter Holidays, but the school printer is unavailable today. A paper copy will be sent home on Monday.  Once you receive it, please help your child fill out the form and send it back as soon as possible. This questionnaire is also listed under "Resources and Links" in our Google Classroom if you prefer a digital copy.  If you choose to do it on the computer, please email your finished form to elhrycan@cbe.ab.ca.  Each student will have a chance to tell the class about a tradition or memory that is special to them. Celebrating the wide variety of cultures in our classroom will be so much fun! This week we learned about the letter Oo!  A lot of friends drew ...
