Hello Kindergarten Families, It has been a busy week in Kindergarten! We have been so busy learning, growing, and playing.  In fact, we were so busy that we don't have any photos of our K friends hard at work!  Photos of some of their completed jobs will be added on Monday, so please check back. Our letter of the week was Ee!  Students noticed that the big E is pretty easy to draw with straight lines, but little e posed more of a challenge.  Echo, ear, elephant, and eagle all begin with Ee! We started a literacy unit on Sneezy the Snowman this week.  In this book full of rhythm and rhyme, the snowman gets so cold and needs to warm up!  Students loved talking about the different reasons the snowman melts.  We'll also explore writing and art activities centred around the melted snowman theme.  It would be the perfect weekend to get outside and make a Sneezy of your very own! Our Patterning unit is wrapping up in Math.  Students stretched their ...

Hello Kindergarten Families!    This week in Kindergarten we focused on the letter D! We came up with lots of words that begin with the letter D, like dog, dumptruck, dinosaur, donkey, and donuts.    This week we read the story “The Mitten”. The Mitten is a great story to practice our sequencing skills. Students worked on retelling which animals went into Nikkis snow white mitten. Our favourite part is when the mouse went on the bears nose. Ask your child what happened when the mouse went on bears nose!   Students were given their own “snow white mitten”. Our challenge was to create patterns on our mittens and make them not snow white. That way the mittens won’t get lost in the snow like Nikkis did!  We have been reviewing patterns as well. Students have been practising making their own AB and ABC patterns. We have been working on extending and identifying patterns as well.

Hello Kindergarten Families, It feels so good to be back!  I hope you all had an enjoyable break.  We would like to welcome Mrs. Leusink back to PM Kindergarten! Thank you to Ms. Yasin for helping with the transition this week. Our letter of the week was Gg this week!  We love that it looks like a C with a table and an o with a monkey tail.  We practiced printing our Ggs, drawing things that start with g, and stamping some g pictures into our Visual Journals. Kindergarten math continues to be all about patterns! Our students are creating their own patterns of increasing complexity.  We're also spotting patterns all around! These photos are from our PM class. On Monday and Tuesday we participated in the Rocks and Rings curling residency!  The students picked up on the rules and scoring quickly. They listened to the coaches and practiced gliding their rocks into the house (or better yet, onto the button)!  AM Class PM Class  We have a few chan...
